Landing Page Copy

Writing copy for a landing page is easy. Don’t hire a copywriter! Copywriters are expensive and sometimes you don’t get what you pay for. It takes a lot of effort to find some that are really good for their money. Don’t get me wrong. There are some out there that are worth every penny that you pay for. But it takes time finding them and keeping them. You can get by writing copy for your landing page yourself. Just keep in mind these tips and tricks when doing so.

Landing Page Writing Tips

Be Direct and to the Point
Do not waste the time of your visitor. Tell them what they get and tell them what you are offering them. Don’t make the visitor read pages of paragraphs to figure out what they get out of it and why they should enter in their email address. Be frank and tell them what they want to here.

Don’t Sell Your Product

You want to put as much effort in writing your landing page copy as you do when writing your sales copy. But do not get the two confused. Your landing page copy will not be talking about your product or selling it. You will not be talking about how great and awesome your product or service is on your landing page. All you need to do is tell them what they get out of putting in their email address. Remember:  the focus is to get their email address for now and not sell anything. With their email, then you can sell stuff to them later.

Be the Visitor
Put yourself in the shoes of your visitor. Be them. Ask yourself what you will get out of all this. Tell the visitor how their life will be so much easier if they got your freebie or entered in their email address. Don’t say how great your freebie is and talk it up like a salesman. Instead, talk about how it will help. Be direct and don’t waste any time. Tell them what they want to hear in the headline and further support it in the sub-headline.

Use Bullets
Use a bullet point form so that readers and scan the page. List the benefits towards the visitor in the bullets. Start with the biggest benefit at the very top, then the second biggest at the second bullet, and so on and so forth. Use a lot of white space so that the reader can scan. That is the reason for bullet points. Remember, people don’t like to waste time, so having bullet points allows them to read faster.

Keeping these tips in mind when writing your own copy is beneficial as it should help you with your conversion rate in turning a visitor into a subscriber.
